Improving connectivity across Gippsland is central to increasing productivity, economic opportunities and enhancing social connections for the region. In 2017 the Committee for Gippsland undertook a connectivity infrastructure master plan project Gippsland Connectivity Infrastructure Project looking at key infrastructure projects that will enhance and enable a better connected Gippsland. In 2018 the Gippsland Regional Digital Plan was completed in collaboration with our partners Regional Partnerships Gippsland, Regional Development Australia – Gippsland and the Gippsland Local Government Network. The Gippsland Regional Digital Plan aims to address Gippsland’s digital connectivity gaps.
Through the Committee for Gippsland’s Gippsland Freight Infrastructure Master Plan the Committee for Gippsland continues to advocate for improved road, rail and public transport networks and services, having already secured over $150 million towards key projects.
Improving educational outcomes is central to increasing opportunities for Gippsland residents as well as for industry in accessing a skilled and capable workforce. The Committee for Gippsland continues to support measures that improve higher education participation and attainment rates in the region.
Gippsland has diverse industry and a broad-based economy. The Committee for Gippsland has undertaken a number of projects to help attract and retain investment in the region, including through the Gippsland Investment Prospectus, and the Our Region Our Future: Securing an Economic Future for Gippsland and Latrobe Valley project.
Gippsland is a major producer of quality and high value foods and products. The Committee for Gippsland strongly supports the continued development of Gippsland as a unique brand that is known for its clean, green and nutritious quality.
Access to local healthcare services is a priority for Committee for Gippsland. The Committee for Gippsland advocates for the further redevelopment of the Latrobe Regional Hospital and a new hospital for the West Gippsland Hospital. A connected regional health service delivery model, that improves the health outcomes for all of Gippsland’s people and communities.
The Committee for Gippsland firmly believes that the region needs to continue to identify, foster and develop its own leadership talent in the region. Since 2011 the Committee for Gippsland has proudly auspiced the Gippsland Community Leadership Program, Australia’s longest running regional leadership program.
With one of Australia’s premier tourist attractions in the Phillip Island Nature Parks within Gippsland, the Committee for Gippsland is a strong advocate for increasing the visitor economy to the region, including bringing the National Surf Lifesaving Championships to Lakes Entrance.
