A message from Committee for Gippsland CEO
As we are all aware, East Gippsland continues to battle devastating fires that have destroyed communities across the region.
Premier Daniel Andrews in this afternoon’s media brief raised concerns for 17 missing East Gippsland people and 24 communities cut off as a result of the fires.
On behalf of C4G, I wish to thank Esso Australia (a C4G corporate member) who have deployed a vessel at Mallacoota (Tuesday night) for the purposes of delivering fuel (so stores in Mallacoota can provide a much needed and welcomed service), food and water. The vessel has also provided accommodation for emergency personnel for that much-needed rest. Another vessel is soon to be deployed.
The Committee for Gippsland has contacted Melissa Ferguson (CEO Gippsland Farmer Relief) and John Mitchell (President of the GERF) to see how we can assist communities impacted by the fires.
We encourage C4G members to support those impacted by these fires by donating to the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund (GERF)
C4G would like to acknowledge the work of fire fighters who continue to work tirelessly to protect Gippsland people and communities – thank you.
Stay safe and keep watch over others.
