Federation University, (C4G Corporate Partner) has a priority to support and connect with the surrounding industry, and also provide opportunities for our students to engage with industry. Final year students are currently seeking projects to meet their placement requirements for the second half of this year.
Jane Darling Sloyan, Federation University Community and Business Development Officer, outlines how Gippsland industry and business interested in hosting a program placement can express interest.
INDUSTRY PLACEMENT PROGRAM (IPP)
IPP is an industry-based scholarship program offered to students who are studying in the areas of Business, IT, Science, Arts and Engineering. The program partners selected students with leading host organisations throughout their region, to provide a valuable industry experience in an area relevant to their field of study. IPP students generally undertake a full-time six-month placement in the third year of their studies.
We aim to make sure that your needs are met, and the student is an effective contributor to your organisation. Your organisation sets the projects or tasks assigned to the student while on placement, in consultation with IPP staff. A Project Scope for the student’s placement will be developed with IPP staff and the student’s academic supervisor. This ensures the work undertaken by the student integrates their academic learning with its application in the workplace – that is, it combines theory with practice.
